Culture Shock San Diego is an internationally renowned professional hip-hop dance company. The troupe was founded in 1993 by Angie Bunch, a professional dancer and Nike Fitness Athlete. Starting the concept as a way of teaching herself how to dance hip-hop, Bunch gathered together a professional performing troupe of dancers, and by the end of the year, Culture Shock San Diego was born.
Now CSSD is a 17-year stalwart in the dance community and one of the world's preeminent hip-hop companies. In addition to dancing in original dance theatricals and national showcases, CSSD’s members have gone on to perform with noted stars such as Destiny’s Child and Missy Elliott. Several CSSD alumni in the Jabbawockeez took home a win on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew.
Culture Shock has also expanded to Los Angeles; Oakland; Las Vegas; Chicago; Atlanta; Washington, D.C.; and in Ottawa and Toronto, Canada. San Diego remains the home branch.
