ODC is a groundbreaking contemporary arts institution with longstanding roots in the San Francisco community. Considered the most active center for dance on the West Coast, the organization is unique for its fully integrated arts vision and its complex and far-reaching impact. In September 2005, ODC opened a performing arts center -- the ODC Dance Commons, located in the heart of the San Francisco Mission -- which sustains a world-class dance company, a professional, pre-professional, and recreational dance training program, a Healthy Dancers’ Clinic, a curated art gallery and a five studio rehearsal and office complex. In 2008, the ODC Theater, a nationally regarded presenting venue, will undergo an extensive renovation producing a state-of-the-art facility befitting its historical role in San Francisco’s art community.
ODC/Dance, the resident dance company at the Commons, is considered one of the first American dance companies to return to virtuosic technique and narrative in avant-garde dance. The company is known throughout the world for its athleticism, passion and intellectual depth.
